
The Automobile Writers' Association of Korea (AWAK) announced on the 24th that Hyundai Motor Avante has been selected as the “2016 AWAK Car of the Year”.
The association stated that the Hyundai Avante received the highest score of 604.83 points among the ten candidates for the 2016 car of the year.
Avante, launched in September of this year, followed Hyundai Motor's new family look known as the Fluidic Sculpture 2.0, following steps of the Genesis and Sonata.

Increased use of the ultra-high-strength steel plate up to 53% and 7 airbag system have enhanced safety. And 7-speed DCT and ISG system used on the gasoline and turbo diesel engine made it possible to achieve an efficiency of 18.4km/l.
In addition, the latest safety and convenience specifications such as a blind spot detection system (BSD), a smart trunk system, a front, and rear parking assistance system, a lamp disconnection diagnosis system, and a misfuel prevention system to prevent mixed oil are installed.

The association also announced the Ssangyong Motors Tivoli as the '2016 SUV of the Year,' BMW i8 as '2016 Design of the Year,' Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S Edition as '2016 Performance of the Year,’ and Hyundai Sonata Plug-in Hybrid as the '2016 Environment Friendly of the Year,' respectively.
Meanwhile, the awards for the models selected in each category will be held at the Korea Press Center on January 5th, next year at 3 pm.
