
The Infinity Premium Sedan Q50 was selected as the '2015 AWAK Car Of The Year' hosted by the Automobile Writers' Association of Korea(AWAK).
The association announced on the 22nd that the Infiniti Q50 was selected as the car of the year with the highest score as a result of an evaluation conducted on 47 new cars (9 domestic cars and 38 imported cars) launched this year.
Q50, as one of the 10 finalists, obtained a total score of 3206 points (out of 3800 points) as a result of a real car test conducted by 19 members of the Association.
The actual vehicle test was conducted on a total of 20 categories, including exterior and interior, performance and safety, innovation and price. The Q50 didn’t receive a top score in a category, but it received many points throughout out different categories, thus received the highest total score.
Second place was the Lexus NX300h with 3201 points, followed by the Mercedes-Benz C-Class with 3164 points.
The highest score for each category was the Lexus NX300h in the exterior category, the new carnival in the interior category, the Mercedes-Benz C-class in the performance category, and the Renault Samsung QM3 in the price and innovation category.

The 2015 AWAK Car of the Year, the Infinity Q50, is the first model being introduced from the Infinity after the changing the modeling name scheme. And, since this February, the infinity has sold more than 200 Q50s through pre-orders here in S. Korea.
Mercedes-Benz diesel engine and Formula 1 champion Sebastian Betel participated in the development, and it succeeded in attracting attention by simultaneously introducing gasoline, diesel and hybrid lineups.
Kia's new Sorento won the most votes for this year's SUV, which was newly established this year. Moreover, BMW M4 and i3 were selected for this year's performance and environment friendly category, and the Q50 won the Design of the Year award and became the first to receive two crowns ever.
An official from the Automobile Journalists Association said, "The Infiniti Q50, which was selected as the car of the year, received an even score above average for its outstanding performance and features, future-oriented design and reasonable price."
Meanwhile, the Automobile Writers' Association of Korea is composed of automobile journalists covering stories on webzines, internet newspapers, and sports magazines, and has selected and announced the 'Car of the Year' by evaluating new cars released on that year since year 2012. The 2015 AWAK Car of the Year award, selected on this day, will be held at the Korea Press Center on January 7th.
